First Aid for All Ages

Goal

The family knows how to ask for help in emergencies. The child knows how to put on a band aid. The adult knows how to administer basic first aid to children.

Description

The family prepare for first aid and emergency situations, so they are more prepared when a situation occurs. Typical first aid situations can be: wound, bump, foreign object in the nose, poisoning (detergent, medicines, houseplants), burn and nosebleed. It is also important to recognise the need for a doctor and when to call 112.

Task for the leader

The leader prepares the equipment (e.g. bandaids) for the meeting. It is important to not allow the children to get dangerous ideas from the meeting. It is unnecessary to tell children that objects can get stuck in their noses, or where medicines are stored. One solution is to meet adults and children separately.
